Assistant, Associate and/or Full Professor Faculty Position
The Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR) in the Department of Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine, invites applications for two tenure-line faculty positions. One position will be at the assistant professor level; the other is open to candidates at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. One position is for a scholar with expertise in health economics; the second position seeks a scholar with expertise in comparative effectiveness, medical decision sciences, cost-effectiveness analysis, or outcomes research. The successful candidate for at least one of the positions will be expected to develop a significant program in evaluating health policy or health interventions in international settings.
PCOR is a multidisciplinary health service research group and is closely affiliated with Stanford’s Center for Health Policy (CHP) in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. Further information about PCOR and CHP can be found at http://healthpolicy.stanford.edu.
Applicants should have a PhD degree, or an MD with PhD-level expertise in a discipline related to health economics or medical decision sciences, such as medical decision analysis, economics, outcomes research or health policy.
The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualification and experience of the successful candidate.

FACULTY POSITION IN IMMIGRANT HEALTH AND CANCER DISPARITIES
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a faculty member to be a part of a growing team of health economists and health services researchers across the MSKCC academic campus. The Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center works to identify the causes of health and cancer disparities among underserved populations and to develop solutions to alleviate them. We use a multidisciplinary, community-engaged approach to understand and address disparities at the local, national, and global levels. We conduct research, provide services to people in need, and train others to recognize and address these issues. We are also working to develop a research infrastructure that enables and encourages the equitable participation of the underserved in clinical trials and other research activities.
Candidates at the Assistant and Associate levels will be considered based on the credentials and experience of the successful candidate. The prospective faculty member will have an interest in the area of comparative effectiveness of health disparities interventions. A background and record of publication in comparative effectiveness, health disparities, or a related area, is highly desirable. Applicants can be specialists in any number of disciplines ranging from health services research to health economics, with an MD or PhD degree. Joint appointments with other departments can be structured based on the candidate’s needs and interests. For physicians wishing to continue patient care, joint appointments with clinical departments are possible. Prior research in cancer is not required.

Job Description:
RTI International has an opening within its Health Care Financing and Payment Program for a Senior Medicare Payment Policy Researcher. This person will be a subject matter expert on Medicare payment policy and will help procure funding for and direct the execution of such studies. Candidates should have knowledge of Medicare policy issues, and the quantitative, qualitative, and project management skills necessary to direct studies of Medicare policy. This position can be located at any RTI location within the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert on Medicare payment policy
- Take a leadership role in procuring funding related to Medicare payment policies
- Direct studies of Medicare payment policy, including managing other RTI staff, project budgets, and client relationships
- Conduct and direct technical analyses, including analyses of Medicare claims and administrative data
- Write reports, memoranda, and papers, including supervising and editing the work of other contributors
- Make presentations of research and policy analyses to clients and at professional conferences
- Plan/direct the entire preparation of proposals of significant technical complexity, contract value, or strategic importance
- Perform research tasks of significant technical complexity, developing and implementing innovative and creative technical solutions to research problems, questions, and issues
- Lead projects and proposals with annual revenues >$1,000,000.
- Generate business opportunities by establishing close client relationships and being recognized for technical expertise.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and 12 year of relevant experience or PhD and 8 years of relevant experience
- Must have Medicare payment policy experience
- Must have strong quantitative, policy analysis, and writing skills
- Proven track record of procuring funding and leading studies related to Medicare payment policy is preferred
- Strong record of publication is preferred
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills is a must
- Ability to manage, provide technical direction to, and work well with others
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet frequent, multiple and tight deadlines

The Division of Social and Economic Research in the Center for Financing, Access and Cost Trends (CFACT) is seeking an economist at the GS-14 level ($105,211-136,771 per year). AHRQ’s CFACT provides a rich research environment, combining collection of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) with research using MEPS and other health data to inform policy. CFACT has a longstanding reputation for attracting and retaining high-quality researchers who work in a collaborative environment, publishing original research in high quality peer reviewed economics and health policy journals.
The successful candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of economic theory, econometrics and statistics, along with the analytic expertise to apply this knowledge to data from complex surveys and to independently initiate and implement research relevant to health economics and health policy. Individuals will primarily spend their time pursuing self-directed research (both independently and collaboratively); and will contribute to the analytical design and oversight of the MEPS.

Research Assistant Professor (Health Home Data Analyst)
The Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH), Universityof Missouri-St. Louis has an opening for a non-tenure track position as a Research Assistant Professor in Mental Health Research. This grant funded position will be available January, 2012.
Project Description: Health Homes are required to use Health Information Technology and Data Analysis to evaluate research and manage health care delivery and outcomes. MIMH will partner with the state of Missouri to evaluate the impact of a state initiative to integrate primary and behavioral health care for Medicaid beneficiaries with chronic mental health conditions; enhance the use of informatics for program monitoring, quality improvement and provider feedback in order to strengthen program effectiveness and outcomes.
Duties include: Build and manage a clinical information data base including information extracted from Missouri Department of Mental Health data. Use Medicaid Claims, Health Homes Registry, and Clinical Information data base to develop practice specific and aggregate performance and monitoring reports as required by the State Planning Area (SPA). Develop and execute evaluation and research plans to determine clinical and fiscal performance of Health Homes. Develop new data reporting systems as needed for improved health home operations. Perform risk predictive analysis to identify high risk patients.
Position requirements: PhD in Health Policy and Administration or similar degree; experience with SAS coding and SQL; experience with health claims analysis – preferably Medicaid, disease management, and care coordination data support preferred.
The candidate will be expected to perform these duties in a professional manner and to abide by the Collected Rules and Regulations of the University Systems. This position is reviewed annually and is renewable contingent on the availability of funds and work performance. Faculty members are expected to publish and present research findings, and to obtain future grant funding to sustain their appointments.

Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor

The Center for Healthcare Informatics and Policy, a multi-departmental entity at Weill Cornell Medical College dedicated to improving health care particularly through the use of informatics and technology, is seeking an outstanding faculty member to take a leadership role in developing research. The individual will work in close collaboration with faculty of the Center for Healthcare Informatics and Policy as well as other colleagues at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. An important mission of the Center is to conduct effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and comparative effectiveness evaluations of health care policies, particularly information technology based policies including the medical home model. The Center has extensive grant funding from federal, state, and foundation sources for health policy-relevant research.
The position requires training in quantitative health services research. Experience designing and building health care data sets. Successful candidates will have advanced knowledge of health care data and interest in or experience with building data sets using multiple data types including Medicare, Medicaid and/or commercial claims as well as electronic health record data. Successful candidates will have a strong interest in quantitative evaluation methods including an interest in economic outcomes.
The faculty member will receive a faculty appointment to Weill Cornell Medical College as an Assistant or Associate Professor (depending on experience), with the expectation that he or she will advance in academic rank consistent with the policies of the faculty.
The successful candidate will have an MD with a research fellowship and/or a Ph.D. in health services research, biostatistics, economics, health policy, or a relevant discipline. Experience with SAS programming and working with medical claims data is required. Knowledge of health policy and medical care is needed. MDs will be board eligible/certified in their specialty field.
