Director of Data Science, Harvard School of Dental Medicine

The integration of primary care and oral health is a strategic focus for the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), where several initiatives are underway to promote inter-professional training and care delivery. HSDM is recruiting a health economist to contribute to its initiative for the integration of oral health and medicine. HSDM seeks to create a program in dental health economics which will develop the evidence base needed to promote policy change and population health approached to health that include  oral health as an integral part of overall health and wellness.

This academic appointment comes with the rank of instructor, assistant professor or associate professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications, in the appropriate academic department based on successful candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will have a dual reporting relationship to the Executive Director of the Initiative to Integrate Oral Health and Medicine (IIOHM)/Assistant Dean for Global and Community Health as well as his/her academic Department Chair.

This individual will be responsible for conducting  comparative effectiveness analysis of benefit plans, running simulation models for shared risk and other innovative payment systems, fostering collaborations with the Harvard Data Science Initiative and other Harvard research teams, assisting with ongoing HSDM studies, developing an independent research portfolio, and contributing to predoctoral and/or postdoctoral teaching including health policy and statistics.

Basic Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Economics/Health Economics and a teaching portfolio which includes instruction in economics and statistics.

Additional Qualifications:

A DMD or MD is a plus.  Experience in an academic or state/federal policy setting is desirable.
